The beautiful game LA Galaxy vs Oceania All Stars

The John Walker Find Your Field of Dreams Foundation is being launched region-wide at the LA Galaxy exhibition soccer game on 6 December.
The Foundation is one of two charitable organisations involved in this event, the other being KidsCan.
Chairman John Walker says that he’s delighted the Oceania Football Confederation and the Auckland Regional Council has provided the opportunity to launch the Foundation at Mt Smart Stadium.
“Mt Smart holds so many special memories for me. It is here that I ran my best time (3m.50.6s), ran more than 20 sub-four-minute miles, and where my 17 years as an international athlete came to end after the 1990 Commonwealth Games,” he says.
Officially launched in Manukau in May, this event allows the Foundation to increase recognition and support of its work across Manukau.
“Our passion is to produce fit, healthy and active young people who make positive choices and dare to pursue their dreams.
“We want to do all we can to get our kids active and involved in sports rather than following temptations to illegal, time-wasting or unhealthy activities. To achieve that, we need the support of all sectors of the community; clubs, teams, volunteers, individuals, schools and sporting and recreation organisations,” says Mr Walker.
The Foundation has sponsored one of the curtain raiser teams, the Field of Dream Stars, which is made up of a mix of celebrities and media stars.
It also is running a competition, giving four Manukau youngsters the opportunity to join the Dream Team, comprising 36 children between the ages of 9 and 11 from the Auckland region, who will run onto the field with the LA Galaxy and Oceania All Stars teams.
