CM Active

Counties Manukau Active is about encouraging youth and their families to make the change to a healthier more active lifestyle with a particular focus on low socio-economic areas.

The initiative is the result of a partnership between:

• SPARC

• Manukau City Council

• Franklin District Council

• Papakura District Council

• Counties Manukau Sport

• Counties Manukau District Health Board

• Procare

• and Otara Health.

The John Walker ‘Find Your Field of Dreams’ Foundation is a supporter of CM Active as it contributes to the vision of the Foundation.

CM Active aims to

• increase grass roots physical activity in Manurewa, Mangere and Otara, there is also focus on the Franklin and Papakura areas.

• provide volunteer training in delivering grass roots physical activity to increase the number and skills of physical activity, recreation and sport providers available in the community.

CM Active offers

• A database of physical activities that are happening in the area.

• Low cost training courses for volunteers to deliver grass roots physical activity programmes in the targeted areas.

• Basic physical activity equipment to allow programme delivery by volunteers.

• Physical recreation and sport activities that lead to health and well-being.

How can you help

• If you provide physical activity in these communities, contact the CM Active Project Manager to become part of the physical activity network in your area.

• Keep CM Active informed of new or existing physical activity initiatives happening in your area.

• Keep CM Active informed of physical activity groups that may need support through training or programme delivery.
